Did everyone make it out to Okanagan Fest of Ale last month? The biggest event yet drew a record number of breweries and attendees to Penticton, with a number of additional events leading up to the main event, such as Joe Wiebe’s IPA Odyssey at Bad Tattoo. Now with festival season in full swing we are looking forward to the Great Okanagan Beer Festival in Kelowna this weekend. Tickets are still available, go here to pick up yours.
If you feel like a road trip, Vancouver Craft Beer Week is one of the biggest beer events in the province, held from May 26th to June 4th. A considerably smaller event will be taking place in Valemount celebrating Northern breweries June 16-17.
Locally we are very excited for our own road trip to Firehall Brewing on Wednesday, May 24th. They will be hosting a special edition of their weekly Vinyl Brewsday (relocated from Tuesday to Wednesday for us) and have prepared a special cask. For our CAMRA SO members not located in Oliver, we have arranged a shuttle service from Penticton-Oliver with a price that also includes appies and the first pint from the special cask. See our event listing below for more details.
Feeling athletic? Join us at the KVS Beer Run on June 3, with proceeds supporting the Youth Outdoor Recreation Society. The 10km long course will visit 3 breweries and include tastings from all 5 of Penticton’s breweries. Registration is still open, see below for more details.
Save the date for two upcoming events. June 21st we will be visiting Highway 97 Brewery in Penticton for our monthly member’s event. We will provide more details closer to the date, as usual keep an eye on our Facebook page for the most up to date info. September 16 will be our Second Annual Home Brewers Competition at Square One Hop Growers. Last year was a huge success, and we expect this year will be even bigger and better. Contact Eike at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to sign up as a brewer – we will have some amazing prizes lined up for participants!
Looking forward to seeing you all at Firehall this month! Remember to bring your Vinyl!
