Hello CAMRA SO Members!
We are so happy to finally have some warm and sunny weather. Bring on backyard barbecues, outdoor adventures, late nights with friends and family getaways! We look forward to the events that summer will bring, and will be kickstarting the season with a CAMRA SO Member’s Meet Up on May 29th at Craft Corner Kitchen. Starting at 5:30pm this event will be a fun and casual evening to socialize with fellow craft-beer lovers. No formal agenda is set for the evening, plan on enjoying craft-beer related conversation over drinks and food with us! Craft Corner will be offering their usual menu items available for purchase, along with their selection of craft beer on tap and rumor has it a special cask will be available that evening as well. Check out the event page on Facebook for updates as they become available.
Hey Home Brewers! Our very own Home Brewing Liaison, Eike Hinz, is co-hosting a Home Brewers Meet Up at Trellis and Vine Crafthouse on May 3. See the poster below for more details. This isn’t an official CAMRA SO event, but we wanted to reach out to our membership as we know there are quite a few home brewers among us! If there is enough interest Eike and Vaughn at Trellis and Vine hope to make this a regular event for brewing enthusiasts to share and learn from each other. Please contact Eike at education@camraso.ca if you plan on attending.
Did you attend Okanagan Fest of Ale this year? Big thanks to our members who volunteered at the CAMRA SO information table, it was great to have a presence at the festival. As well our members were invited to attend the industry event Friday afternoon prior to general admission and we had a great turn out!
We have more great news to share about Okanagan Fest of Ale – their bursary fund. The fun provides bursaries to students pursing 2nd year of post-secondary education in the brewing industry or intermediate level, accredited online courses in the brewing industry. Preference is given to those in financial need, students who demonstrate determination and willingness to work hard, and additional consideration will be given to family circumstances that add extra burdens to the student. This Fund will offer multiple awards with a minimum value of $500 each. For more information go here. |
